On Friday I brought my Multi-Storey Car Parks (Safety) Bill back to the House. The Bill, known as Gabe’s Law after my constituent Gabriel Santer who died after falling from a multi-storey car park in the city centre, seeks to raise the height of fencing in multi-storeys and ensure a staffed presence at car parks to avoid anyone using a multi-storey car park to take their own life. The current height for fencing is only 1.1 metres, or just over 3 feet.

The Government objected once more to the Bill. I will return it again to the House on Friday March 15th.
