Last month I was contacted by a constituent in Netherley who was concerned that upcoming gasworks on Gerrards Lane, carried out by Cadent, would adversely affect bus services for local people for a number of weeks. In their own case as a disabled person it would mean walking four stops just to catch a vital bus service, leaving them feeling trapped in their own home. They were not alone in their concerns.

I took up the case with both Cadent and Liverpool City Council and urged them to provide a shuttle bus and put in place alternative arrangements while the work was carried out.

Cadent and LCC have this week confirmed to me that, following an assessment, a shuttle bus service will operate from today until the work is completed on 1st March. The service, operated by Arriva and funded by Cadent, will run during weekday peak times and during daytime at weekends. Local residents have been contacted with details of operating times and dates.

I am pleased Cadent listened to complaints and this should help to minimise negative impact locally until the work is finished.
