Last week I visited Palmerston School, where my constituent Kathryn Harvey teaches children with special needs, many of whom also live in Garston and Halewood, with others travelling in from around the city.

Palmerston is an outstanding schools that provides high quality education for students aged 11-18 with a range of special educational needs. I met some of their older students for a question and answer session that included some well thought out and challenging questions. It was nice to see such engaged students and to hear their views and ideas.

It was good to tour around the school itself, which is well-equipped to provide not only educational opportunities but care and support for young people with a range of disabilities, including a hydrotherapy pool and specially-equipped sensory rooms. The older students I met are part of their Equals Moving On curriculum which prepares them for life after Palmerston, delivered by a dedicated team of teachers and support staff.
