Congratulations to Sweden on winning Eurovision on Saturday night night at the end of a week of events that spotlighted the very best of Liverpool. From last Sunday’s launch concert to last night’s final, the unity events with Ukraine to the fan park, the city has embraced visitors from all over the world and shown how to put on a fantastic event that will be remembered for years to come. Only Liverpool could have put on a show like this.

Everyone involved with putting on Eurovision, starting with the initial bid up to last night’s finale, has done an incredible job on what was the most-watched Eurovision Final in UK history with 11 million viewers. The atmosphere was astonishing right up to the last set of results which gave Sweden the win, despite the Scouse crowd championing Finand and their “Cha! Cha! Cha!”.
