Maria Eagle Supported Internship Day
Maria Eagle Supported Internship Day
This week in Parliament I met Harry Georgiou, an inspiring young disability activist from Garston and Halewood who recently completed a Supported Internship. He was in Parliament to celebrate National Supported Internship Day, which took place for the first time on March 27th. Harry had already been to Downing Street on the day to talk about his internship and was then given a tour of Parliament.

The day has been set up to challenge the everyday misconceptions and pre-set work cultures that all too often unfairly shape the lives of young adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. The aim is to double the number of supported internships in England to 4500 per year by March 2025.

It was great to meet Harry and hear about his experience.
