🩺 Save Our Surgery!
Patients at West Speke Health Centre have been informed of a decision by NHS Cheshire & Merseyside to close the Health Centre on 31st March. The decision has been taken on low patient figures and a lack of tenders from GPs to take over the practice. They propose to re-register patients at other GP surgeries but for many patients travelling to other surgeries will be difficult.
I’ve been contacted by many constituents concerned at this news, as have Cllrs Mary Rasmussen and Doreen Knight. We share these concerns.
That’s why I have called a public meeting on Friday next week, meeting at the Metal Box Social Club on Speke Blvd, for anyone impacted by or concerned about this proposed closure. We managed to save the surgery before the pandemic when it was one of three previously under threat of closure.
I will be joined by local Labour Councillors and a representative from NHS Cheshire & Merseyside to discuss concerns and next steps. You can find the full details above.
