On Friday I visited a We’ll Care Liverpool, a new community interest company that offers day support to disabled adults in the Scout Hut in Halewood. They provide social and leisure opportunities for disabled people who experience restricted lives.

Brian and his staff currently look currently look after four adults Monday to Friday, with activities that range from litter-picking and cleaning up the community to arts, crafts and writing. Friday morning is cookery class and I saw them making a delicious-smelling Peawack soup. What is important about this type of service is how it brings disabled adults into society, giving them a chance to learn new skills and interact with others while hopefully creating volunteering and employment opportunities for their clients.

The service has been going for three months and is looking to expand to provide support for up to six adults at a time. I wish them the best of luck in this. You can hear more about their service above.
