Over summer I have visited charities, community groups and local residents to hear how they’ve been coping with the cost of living crisis. What I heard was heart-breaking, with local people having to visit food charities to feed their kids or buy solar garden lights to light their home at night, food banks at breaking point because they can’t keep up with demand and support services being inundated with people who can no longer pay their mortgage or rent.
