On Friday I visited Woolton High School to visit with Class TEC 2 who have been studying Democracy and the UK Government under their teacher Mrs Doherty and her team. They had prepared a wide range of questions for me, which ranged from the differences between London and Liverpool to what it’s like to be an MP and whether people should be able to vote at 16.

They also asked whether I had faith in humanity to make big decisions, to which I said you have to have. What this and my visit to St Nicholas’ last week have shown me is that, based on the thoughtful and inquisitive questions I have been asked, we should have faith in the next generation to make big decisions. It is heartening to see that many  young people are thinking deeply about their place in the world and the future.

I want to thank Mrs Doherty and Woolton High School for inviting me to visit them.
