Maria Eagle MP A Strong Voice in Tough Times
As a new Parliamentary session begins so do my attempts again to get the Public Advocate Bill through Parliament. I was promised action by the end of last session, but once more nothing has come of this despite cross-party support for the Bill.
This week in the House Theresa May raised the issue, having made the Public Advocate Bill a commitment in her 2017 manifesto as Prime Minister. Since then the Government have objected to the Bill at every opportunity.
I will continue to bring the Bill back to the House. This would be a lasting legacy for the 97 lost in the Hillsborough disaster and would give real protections to victims and families of future public disasters.
