I was very pleased to hear that the OK Foundation, founded by constituent Mark King and named after his son Oliver who sadly died at school after a sudden cardiac event, has been successful in getting the Government to agree to place a defibrillator in every school in the country. Had there been one at Oliver’s school, he would have had a fighting chance at survival.

That was 11 years ago and Mark’s campaign, which I have supported from the beginning and which you may have seen is also supported by Jamie Carragher, has this week received the news that the Government will work with the foundation to identify which schools don’t have a defibrillator and then will supply one. It’s a fitting legacy for Oliver and I want to congratulate everyone involved for getting this through. It will literally save lives in the future.
