Saturday night saw major landmarks across the world play their annual part in highlighting the dangers of climate change by going dark for an hour, including our own landmarks across Liverpool. Since 2007 at 8.30pm on the last Saturday of March people in over 190 countries and territories have made the symbolic gesture of switching off their electric to ensure a brighter future for people and the planet.

As we see the worsening impact of climate change initiatives like Earth Hour become increasingly important, which is why this week in Parliament I took park in an event to highlight this important cause. I’ve pledged to support a net-zero, nature-positive future for UK landscapes where people and nature thrive alongside each other.

I’m always pleased to see our landmark buildings in Liverpool take part alongside other global landmarks and cultural sites including the London Eye, Royal Albert Hall, the Eiffel Tower and the Empire State Building.
