On Monday 20th July I signed an Early Day Motion supporting Tracy Crouch MP who is urging legislation to be introduced by the Government which will ban the import and sale of fur in the UK. 72% of the British public are in agreement that fur sales should be banned.
Twenty years ago I supported and pushed the original Fur Farming Prohibition Bill through Parliament which banned fur farming in the UK. With the country recognising fur is too cruel to be farmed here, surely it is too cruel to be sold here.
With the UK leaving the European Union, we must push forward the ban of importing and selling fur in the UK and urge the Government to take action, this opportunity is essential to help the UK become a world leader in animal welfare.
