We are all proud of the England team and how they have conducted themselves right through Euro 2020. And today I have signed an early day motion in Parliament recognising their success and their response to the dreadful racism they have been subjected to.
The early day motion says:
“This House congratulates the England Football Team, manager Gareth Southgate, the players and all the back room staff for the way they have represented our country with dignity and commitment, and particularly commend them for the clear and demonstrable opposition to racism and discrimination which they have shown before every game and throughout the whole tournament, and believe they should be proud of themselves as we are proud of them.”
I am pleased to support this motion and I know that they will bring us further success in the future.
