Yesterday (June 18th) I went along to the Oliver King Foundation’s first annual Golf Day, which was raising funds to keep up the Foundation’s important work of supplying defibrillators to schools, venues and public spaces.

The OK Foundation, named after local schoolboy Oliver King who tragically died at the age of 12 following a sudden cardiac arrest at school, has in the last nine years handed out over 5,500 defibrillators, trained over 100,000 people to use them and, most importantly, saved to date 56 lives.

I spoke to Oliver’s dad Mark about the work they do and about why it’s important we bring in legislation that will make defibrillator access on site in public areas, just like we have with fire extinguishers, a legal requirement.
