I have heard from Liverpool Clinical Commissioning Group that the three GP practices affected by the imminent insolvency of Primary Care Connect – West Speke, One of the GP practices at Garston Hospital and Netherley Health Centre are to be continued in their current locations. I expect this to be announced next week.

I know that this was not what the CCG expected to happen, particularly in West Speke, which they expected to close. This is therefore a tribute to the fact that so many people signed the petitions that organised by myself and local councillors, Mary Rassmusen, Leon Tootle, Doreen Knight, Helen Thompson, Ruth Bennett and Pauline Walton. Also, the CCG, to their credit, listened to the public and patients who made it clear in the consultation meetings that were held how difficult it would have been to have to travel further afield for GP services.

I will be keeping an eye on developments and hope that once the new operators get started, patients will let me know if there is any deterioration in service and if they have any concerns.
