Liverpool CCG have now held two consultation meetings to find out what local people want to happen to their GP. The message came back loud and clear, Liverpool CCG must #SaveOurSurgeries. I have also received hundreds of petition signatures and survey returns all calling for the West Speke and Netherley surgeries to be kept open.

The GP Surgeries that under threat are all in areas where these services are badly needed. I think we can all agree that the funding and support given to GPs should be linked to the needs of the community around them, not how much profit can be gained.

Tory NHS policies fly in the face of common sense, it is quite unbelievable that three surgeries in some of the most deprived areas in Liverpool are under threat. I am working closely with local Labour Councillors in Speke Garston and Belle Vale to ensure all three are kept open and I have tabled parliamentary questions to get to the bottom of why GP contracts are so restrictive.
