On Friday I toured Speke’s New Dementia Hub. This brand new hub is one of three being built in Liverpool, representing a £30million investment by the council into care for the elderly.

Once completed this brand new hub will offer community healthcare for the most vulnerable adults. There will be 60 beds providing state-of-the art accommodation and care for people living with dementia, as well as those with other long term residential and nursing care needs.

It was great to see how far the construction has come since it started last July. Not only is this investment great for older residents but it will provide good quality jobs for local people.

I welcome the Council’s support for this project, a great example of what Liverpool’s Labour Council is doing despite losing the most funding of any council in the UK, £444million in total.
