Brexit Amendment – Government defeat
There were extraordinary scenes in Parliament today, with a Government defeat on a vote on an amendment giving control over the Brexit process back to Parliament if the Prime Minister’s deal is rejected in the House of Commons next week. I explain more about what this means in the video below. ⬇️⬇️Tomorrow, I hope to speak in the debate on the deal ahead of the vote on the disastrous deal next week so keep an eye out for more updates tomorrow.

EU Withdrawal Debate – 10th January 2019
Yesterday I spoke in the debate on the Prime Minister’s EU Withdrawal agreement, which will have dire consequences for the lives of my constituents and which I will be voting against when it is put before Parliament next week. I set out my reasons for doing so in my speech, which you can watch a clip of below. ⬇️⬇️Theresa May is saying it’s her deal or no deal, but both options will have terrible consequences on the lives and finances of my constituents and many more across the UK. If we can’t get another General Election and a Labour Government because of the Fixed-term Parliaments Act, it’s time to let the country decide on our future through a people’s vote on the deal with the option to remain in the EU.
