This week the Government announced its local government funding settlement, outlining the money they’ll be giving to local councils for next year. There’s still no money to plug the massive gaps in Liverpool City Council and Knowsley Borough Council’s budgets that were created in the first place by the austerity policies pushed by this Government and the Lib/Dem coalition.

Local Government Funding Settlement

This week the Government announced its local government funding settlement, outlining the money they’ll be giving to local councils for next year. ⬇️ There’s still no money to plug the massive gaps in Liverpool City Council and Knowsley Borough Council’s budgets that were created in the first place by the austerity policies pushed by this Government and the Lib/Dem coalition. Both councils have seen their budgets slashed by way over half since 2010. I asked the Minister what he and the Government are going to do about this. More vague answers from the Tories, while our councils are expected to make ends meet, pick up the slack, and rely on funds raised to pay for social care and local services through the unfair distribution of council tax revenue. The Prime Minister said austerity is over. For my constituents, that simply isn’t true.
