The meaningful vote on Theresa May’s failed brexit deal is drawing closer. This Tuesday MP’s from all over the country will vote either for or against her deal on behalf of their constituents.

It is clear to me that her deal is doomed. The PM has made no effort whatsoever to appeal to pro-remain or even pro-brexit MP’s in any party during her negotiations with the EU. The result is a deal that nobody supports. From the very beginning of the process she adopted a bunker mentality to protect herself from the ardent brexiteers in her own party. Today even her own (recently resigned) Brexit Secretary said that she had not listened to his advice when he offered it.

Now, a surprise to no one, her deal has little to no support in the House of Commons. The DUP have abandoned her, opposition parties have universally rejected her deal and many of her own MP’s seem almost certain to rebel and vote down her deal. This will cause a huge crisis for the PM and could result in her facing a vote of no confidence from both her own MPs calling for her to step down as leader of the Tories and from the Labour Party demanding a vote of no confidence in her government.

If that happens I do not see how Theresa May can continue as Prime Minister. When she loses the vote on the 11th the Labour Party will be ready to call for her resignation and demand a general election so we can put an end to this chaotic situation, take over negotiations ourselves and start to bring our country together to find a workable solution to this crisis.
