On Tuesday I signed an amendment to the Finance Bill to make sure that MPs get to see the Government’s assessment of the potential economic impact of Brexit before they are asked to vote on a final deal.

Without seeing these assessments, there can be no such thing as the “meaningful” vote on the deal that we were promised by this Government. You can read the amendment in full below.

By Wednesday the Prime Minister was in talks with her own Cabinet Ministers trying to get their backing for the Brexit Deal that she recently returned with from Brussels. She met with each minister individually, perhaps trying to divide and conquer her own cabinet. It is now clear that she totally failed to get their support for her deal. You can watch what I thought by clicking on the link below.

Brexit Deal

The Prime Minister is currently in talks with her Cabinet Ministers trying to get their backing for the Brexit Deal that she recently returned with from Brussels. It’s not be published yet, but from what we hear it isn’t a deal that will be good for our country and economy. Quite the opposite, and she’ll have quite a challenge getting it through Parliament. I certainly won’t be voting for it, and I don’t believe the rest of the Labour Party will be either. ⬇️

On Thursday Theresa May revealed the deal she has agreed with the EU. Having claimed she had the backing of her cabinet, we then saw four Minsters resign before she’d even finished presenting it to Parliament.

After presenting it MPs from all sides of the house pointed out the multitude of problems with her deal. It is obvious that it pleases no one, the deal is far worse than remaining in the EU and for the die-hard brexiteers in her own party it doesn’t represent the clean break from the EU they wanted.

I won’t be voting for this disastrous deal, and I think the Prime Minister will struggle to get it through the Commons next week without the full support of her party or the DUP. With the PM losing support, the only way to clear up this Brexit mess is for there to be a General Election or a People’s Vote on the final deal with the option to remain in the EU.

PM Brexit Deal

Today the Prime Minister made a statement in Parliament on the Brexit deal she recently agreed with the EU. Having apparently got the deal through cabinet in yesterday's meeting, we saw four Minsters resign today before she'd even finished presenting it to Parliament. ⬇️I won't be voting for this disastrous deal, and I think the Prime Minister will struggle to get it through the Commons next week without the full support of her party or the DUP.
