This weekend Liverpool was treated  to a third visit from the Giants operated by French based Royal de Luxe Theatre Company. It is estimated that over 1.5million people visited Liverpool and the Wirral this weekend for a chance to see the giants walking around our city for a final time.

I want to congratulate all the people who made this possible, Mayor Joe Anderson and Metro Mayor Steve Rotherham, Cllr Wendy Simon and other council officers, police, volunteers, commercial partners and the giants creator Jean-Luc Courcoult. This event brought our city together to celebrate a fantastic artistic display and the joy brought to hundreds of thousands of children and their families is clear to see in the photographs and videos.

In addition to this, and from a purely objective point of view, this event has generated huge amounts of business for shops and restaurants in the city centre as well as providing an international advert for what Liverpool can achieve. Only Liverpool would embrace an event like this so wholeheartedly.
