I recently met with representatives from Cancer Research UK to stand shoulder to shoulder with the NHS in our battle to beat cancer.

We’ve made a lot of progress over the decades in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, with half of all cancer patients now surviving the disease by 10 years or more. But Tory cuts to our NHS budget and the staffing shortages that have resulted now mean that the NHS doesn’t have enough staff to deal with the ever growing number of cancer patients as a result of our ageing population.

We’re at a critical point. The Government needs to take action to fund the NHS properly so we have the resources to ensure we have the best possible chance of beating cancer sooner.
