Many of my constituents have been directly affected by the exploitative use of leasehold contracts on new build houses, forced to pay out extortionate amounts of money for ground rents and maintenance charges. Yesterday in the Chamber, I asked the Minister for Housing, Communities and Local Government what was being done to stop this.

The Minister’s response was disappointing. In fact, she dedicated half of her answer to explain how the Government was helping her constituents whilst saying nothing about what’s being done for people in Liverpool. And no mention of any support at all for those already stuck in these exploitative contracts. Simply not good enough.
