Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn led for the Opposition in a debate in the Commons on “National Security and Russia” on Monday following on from measures taken by the UK and our allies worldwide to deal with the Salisbury attack. The PM made it clear that in addition to the Skripals and DS Nick Bailey, more than 130 people could have been potentially exposed to the Novichok nerve agent used and that more than 50 people were assessed in hospital.
Jeremy Corbyn supported the measures taken by the Govt and our allies around the world and said:
“There is clear evidence that the Russian state has a case to answer and it has failed to do so. We can therefore draw no other conclusion than that Russia has a direct or indirect responsibility for this.”
It is good to see that, despite Tory backbench attempts to suggest otherwise, Jeremy Corbyn was very clear indeed about who is behind this attack and he supported fully the attempts of our Government to deal with the serious implications of this appalling behaviour by Russia.
