Maria Eagle MP A Strong Voice in Tough Times
Theresa May’s Cabinet Reshuffle was supposed to be about her reasserting her authority over her fractured party. Instead she got talked out of making any important decisions by her own MPs.
On top of it all the Prime Minister gave one of the most important jobs in Government – Secretary of State for Work and Pensions – to Esther McVey. Mcvey is known for her hardline, right wing views and for defending the hated bedroom tax in the face of widespread criticism.
Click the link aboveand watch her terrible answer to a debate I called on Food Banks in 2013. She said that it was right and expected that more people than ever were visiting food banks. It is a shocking statement, lacking in empathy or understanding, from someone who now oversees the support provided to millions of disabled and vulnerable people.
This reshuffle has been one of the most shambolic I have seen, everything we have come to expect from our weak Prime Minister and her incompetent Government.
