Maria Eagle MP A Strong Voice in Tough Times
On Friday I visited the PSS project at Bridge Chapel Day Centre and Dutch Farm in Garston. PSS work with the YMCA to provide support, advice and assistance to anyone that needs help in the community including those with mental or physical disabilities as well as refugees and the elderly.
Staff gave me a full tour of the site and the amazing Dutch Farm. The farm boasts a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, it was incredible to see just how much hard work both staff and volunteers have put into the site.
The farm provides a calm environment for service users, they have the opportunity to learn about healthy eating, team work and gain a wide array of practical skills. The aim is to give everyone more confidence in themselves to take out into the wider community. It was clear that everyone using the services had learnt a lot and there was a real sense of community at the Bridge Chapel Day Centre and Dutch Farm. I look forward to seeing how this project continues to grow over the years.
If you want to get involved there are lots of different ways you can help. Visit the PSS website at www.psspeople.com to find out more.
