Recently, I spoke with my constituent Frances Molloy whose son Michael was tragically killed on the way home from Bestival in 2012 in a coach crash caused when the 19 and a half year old tyre of the coach he was travelling in burst.

Shortly afterwards, Frances launched the “Tyred” campaign to change the law and set a legal limit of 10 years for tyres used on buses and coaches to prevent any other family having to experience the unnecessary loss that she and her family have gone through.

I’ve been a proud supporter of this vital campaign since Michael’s tragic death, and recently spoke at its relaunch in June. This simple change in the law, that could save many lives, is long overdue.
