Today, I spoke with Talk City Radio host Mick Coyle about the recent surge in gun crime across Merseyside and steps I’ve been taking to make sure the police have the funding they need to tackle it head on.

Merseyside police are known for their experience in investigating serious crime and gun crime, I know that with more funding they will be able to keep our city safe.

On Tuesday, Chief Constable Andy Cooke, Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Kennedy, a group of Merseyside MPs and I met with the Security Minister to demand the extra funding that Merseyside Police urgently need.

Whilst the meeting was positive, I will be sure to keep the pressure on the Government to make sure that resources to tackle gun crime in Merseyside remain a priority.
