Maria Eagle MP A Strong Voice in Tough Times
On Wednesday the Government announced its appalling decision to close 78 Job Centres around the country, without proper consultation.
Many of my constituents who are disabled or long-term sick, and have been assessed by as fit to work by this Government, will now be forced to travel even further to avoid being sanctioned for not attending Job Centre appointments. Many find it very difficult and expensive to get to existing Job Centres at the moment.
I asked the Work and Pensions Minister what he planned to do to ensure these people, who are already struggling, won’t be the ones hit the hardest by these closures.
