I attended the national celebration of Armed Forces Day which was held in Liverpool this weekend.

In addition to giving us all a chance to thank service personnel, veterans, cadets and their families for their work keeping us safe, we were able to enjoy a parade by service personnel cadets and veterans, a fly past by the Red Arrows all against the backdrop of a visit from the Iron Duke, a Type 23 Royal Navy Frigate.

Liverpool and Merseyside have always contributed greatly to the Forces and it was good to see that recognised by the award of this national event to our city.
