Local Fundraiser Olly Harrison Needs Your Help

It was great to visit the farm of Olly Harrison in Tarbock Green today and talk about his fantastic project to raise money for the Liverpool cancer charity “Sunflowers”. Join me in donating on his JustGiving page to raise money for charity and sponsor a sunflower in his field.

Earlier this year one of his wheat crops was eaten by rabbits meaning he had an empty field. After using the land to grow five acres of beautiful sunflowers he thought that it would be a shame to harvest them.

Olly was inspired by a friend’s struggle with breast cancer and made the decision to use the sunflowers to raise money for a cancer charity. After looking for a charity with links to sunflowers he found one in Aigburth and so offered to raise money for Sunflowers.

Founded in 1986, Sunflowers provides support to individuals and families affected by a cancer diagnosis in the Merseyside region. They provide counselling, art and craft therapies, exercise classes and more. I met Sunflowers CEO Emma Squibb today she told me that it can tough to raise money and is really grateful to Olly for offering to help them.

By donating to Olly’s JustGiving Page you will be giving money directly to the Sunflowers cancer charity and by sponsoring a sunflower Olly will leave them in the field for bees and birds to eat throughout the autumn and winter. It’s a brilliant idea to help raise money and help local wildlife at the same time.
